Therapy for Adolescents

Adolescence is a time for growth and self-identity and is seen as a passage from childhood to adulthood.

It can also be a time that is stressful for both teenagers and parents.

Adolescents struggle with needs for independence and they often feel misunderstood. They experience all kinds of changes in their bodies and in their feelings. They can battle with depression, anxiety, self-injurious behaviors, conflict regarding sexual identity and experimentation with drugs, alcohol and sexual behavior. In addition, many experience academic pressures and conflict with parents.

Many adolescents benefit from simply having a safe and confidential place to process their emotions and emerging identity. Psychotherapy is also an effective means of helping with the relationship and communication with parents.
